Pattern Emporium

Hello there, Sweet Cheeks!

Sweet Cheeks Sweater – Pattern Emporium

Wow!
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted here.
Every sew I make I add blogging about it on my to-do list, but then life happens and I push it to the “things to catch up to list”.

As you can imagine, that list is a mile long by now.
Time to face reality and accept that I’ll never be able to catch up to it all. lol
So time to start afresh!

Brand new sew, brand new blogging spree! TADA!

And what better way to start than with a great wardrobe staple from Pattern Emporium?

The Sweet Cheeks Sweater (or jumper if you’re an Aussie) features a dropped shoulder & fabulous full sleeve. The fit is roomy & oversized, making it perfect for layering.

It is a fast & satisfying sew that’s designed for comfort.

This really encompasses the spirit of this sweater. Cute and Comfy!
It’s also chock full of options, which we all love! 😉

As per usual, Kate provides us with an easy-to-sew pattern, accompanied by a fantastic tutorial that is impossible to sew only one of.

Here’s what I made (so far):

01 – Ultra Crop and V-neck

  • Ultra crop
  • V-neck
  • Main Fabric: Mesh
  • Bands Fabric: Cotton Lycra

I love this one!
It’s so great for those not particularly scorching summer days. Also great for layering when it cools down in the evenings.

02 – Crop and Mid Neck

  • Crop length (+ 1 inch)
  • Mid Neckline
  • Fabric Main: Stretch Lace
  • Fabric Bands: Ribbing (for the Dutchies, it’s ribbed fabric, not boordstof 😉 )

I love this as well! (spoiler alert, I love them all haha)

This lace is on the heavier side so I won’t be wearing it on warm summer days much, but it’s perfect for summer evenings and spring. It will also be amazing for layering when it gets colder.

03 – Crop with V-neck

  • Crop (as per pattern length)
  • V-neck
  • Fabric Main: It’s a mystery knit I’ve had in my stash for ages. The best I can describe it is a cotton mesh.
  • Fabric Bands: Cotton Lycra (Katoen tricot)

I’m digging this preppy look!
Isn’t it amazing how fabric choice can transform a pattern look?
This one will be in constant rotation for sure. All year long!

04 – Hacking Time!

You know I can’t help myself! haha

  • Crop length
  • V-neck
  • Fabric: a very stretchy Sweater Knit

HACK: I simply used 2 fronts and 2 V-neckbands, so I have a V on both sides. That in combination with the stretchier fabric made the sweater’s neckline wider and the whole thing slouchier.

I’m OBSESSED with this one!

EDITED TO ADD: I’ve been getting a lot of questions about this 🙂 The sweater does stay put on my shoulders. That being said, this will be dependent on your fabric. The less resilient, the wider/slouchier it will be.

Fabric choices will truly dictate the look and feel of this pattern. Make sure to watch Kate’s YouTube video, she explains it beautifully.

Now excuse me while I go cut another of these because I just watched said video and have inspiration that needs attention right away!

* All sweaters have long sleeves, but it was so warm when I was photographing that I unconsciously pushed them all up lol

05 – Ultra Crop with High Neck

Kate’s video inspired me to make a short-sleeved version and this bright cotton lycra was begging to become an ultra crop.

  • Size 10 (as the CL is quite stiff I sized it down to have a slimmer fit)
  • Ultra Crop
  • High Neck
  • Banded short sleeves
  • Cotton Lycra (220-240 gsm)
  • For the image on it, I used an SVG file from the Mystical SVG Bundle. Cut with a Cricut machine and applied with a heat press.

So happy with how it turned out!
One hour from start to finish, including cutting and weeding the SVG file.
Faster than doing laundry… just saying. LOL
