Pierside Skirt – Mini Capsule

Pierside Pencil Skirt

2019 is going to be the year that I cross off all the sewing projects from my wish-to-make list!
Ok, so realistically speaking, probably not ALL of them since this list keeps growing with each new release, but I’ll give it my best go! 😉

To start it off with the right foot forward, the Pierside Pencil Skirt by New Horizons Designs.

This is such a good pattern.
Theoretically, a pencil skirt is a pretty simple and easy design and you may think: I’ve seen one, I’ve seen them all. But I’m here to tell you, it ain’t so! 😛

The Pierside comes with a lot of options to allow you to have all the fun making different skirt with different looks and vibes.

They include:

  • Knee, Midi and Maxi lengths;
  • A contoured high waistband that you can fold down if you prefer to wear it low-rise;
  • Straight (square or rounded edges) or Curved hem;
  • optional side vents, pocket and drawstrings.

The options I chose were: Knee length and straight hem with rounded corners.
This such was such a fast project to make. We’re taking half an hour from cutting fabric to having a beautiful skirt! How amazing is that?

Fabrics used were faux leather for the waistband and bengaline for the skirt itself. If you’ve taken a peek at my preview projects before you probably recall seeing those fabrics here before. There’s a reason for that! 😉

I made this skirt with a vision in mind, I wanted it to match my favorite NH pieces and create a mini Capsule with them.

The first look you’ve seen above, I paired it with my Faux Leather Marbella.
I really love this top, it give just that extra edgy oomph to the outfit!

The second look was a no brainer! Layer it up with my knee lenght Tanacross Cardi. Keeping the edge but making it more “office friendly”.

Seriously love this combo!!! <3

The third and final look is a more classic one, I just had to pair it with my favorite Manhattan peplum!

It’s such a feminine and flattering silhouette. Love it!

Well, this was it for my mini NH capsule… what do you think? Did I do good?

One skirt to match them all, one skirt to unite them all… 😛
