Double Take Tank & Endless Summer Shorts
Yay! Time for another Winter Wear Designs Blog Tour, and this time it’s all about our summer wardrobe staples.
To me, it has to be tank tops and shorts.
Easy, comfortable and cute, that’s what summer is all about!
Samantha had a White & Neon themed party to go to a couple of weeks ago and, as expected, asked me to make her something new to wear.
It was to be an informal party and the weather was nice, a perfect opportunity to pull out this non-stretch white lace from my stash and make a Double Take Tank.
The pattern is meant for wovens and it’s an easy and quick sew!
The options I chose were: Racer back, Shirt Tail hem and short length.
Lace tank plus last minute necklaces and bracelets made from swim scraps and she was happy and ready to go!
As Samantha already fits the WWD adult size chart the only mod I made was to eliminate the bust darts as she’s not developed yet. She’s an inch shorter than what the pattern is drafted for but I kept the top length as is because she likes her tops to be long anyways. 😉
I liked the top so much that I just HAD to make one for myself as well!
Same options as hers.
I’m the opposite of her, I’m taller than the height the pattern is drafted for, but like my tops a bit shorter, so I kept the pattern length as well.
I love the fact that she still enjoys twinning with her mom (“as long as it’s not cutesy and looks cool, ok?” )
Geez… she’s getting so big, soon we won’t be twinning anymore we’ll just going to be able to share our tops.
New tank tops as for new shorts, right?

Samantha’s shorts are the most basic option, no pockets, hemmed edges. I’ve added pockets to mine.
These are such a quick sew. I need to make time for an Endless Summer sewing day and make a bunch for us.
Both tank and shorts patterns are definitely a staple in this household. Super easy and quick to make, with an amazing fit.
If you’re new to sewing wovens, these are great patterns to get your toes wet. Prefer sewing with knits? You can still use them, just size one down. 😉
