Petite Stitchery released an amazing swim collection, with so much variety you’re bound to find something you like! 😉
When I first laid eyes on the South Seas I knew I just HAD to make one!
I love the high neckline, the cold shoulder detail and open back, it’s different from your run of the mill swimsuit and I love that!
Something else that I love about the South Seas is that it can be worn as a bodysuit without looking like you’re wearing a swimsuit as clothes (not that there’s anything wrong about it, btw)!
And since I don’t go swimming that often, I’ll be wearing mine on dry land way more often than as a bathing suit!
The pattern comes with plenty options:
- One piece
- Swim dress
- Tankini
- with or without shoulder flounce
- 3 bottom coverage lines (regular, midi or boyshorts)
My suit is the one piece, with shoulder flounce and midi cut bottom.
Size XL graded to 2X, it’s fully lined, has a shelf bra and cups sewn in. If you’d like more support you can also add a layer of mesh! (everything is included in the instructions).
It’s not a difficult pattern to make, but it does have a few steps and involves swim elastic and sewing through multiple layers. But don’t let that intimidate you, it is very doable, even if you’ve never sewn swimsuits before!
Independent on how you’re planning on wearing it, as a swimsuit by the water or as a bodysuit in dry land, I highly recommend the South Seas by Petite Stitchery!
