I don’t know about you, but when I think of Greenstyle Creations, a woven dress isn’t the first thing that jumps into my mind. That’s probably the reason why the Havana top and dress flew under my radar for so long.
I can’t believe I’d been missing out on this amazingness!
The pattern is meant for flowy lightweight wovens, has a ton of options and it’s a breeze to make. What’s not to love?
I started off by making a top length with the racerback (view A).
This is a voile-type cotton I got a couple of years ago at the local market. It’s so perfect for a summer top!
I graded from size E to size G for this one. My hips are a J, but I went with my high hip measurement for this one because I didn’t want too wide.
Right after I finished this one I knew I needed to make a maxi dress, like… right away!
So, that’s what I did… Sewed it back to back. That’s how much in love with it I became.
I love a good lace-up , and really wanted to make the view B but the gathering at the waist was stopping me. Somehow I got it into my head that it wouldn’t suit me.
I’ve learned to accept my body in all shapes and sizes that it migrates through, but in all honesty… some times are easier than others, and the corona pounds have me feeling some kinda way lately. It’s a phase, and it will pass. But at the moment, it is what it is. 😉
So I decided to avoid the waist gathers and hack the View B back with the one piece front and non-gathered skirt.
I can’t get enough of this dress!
Now I reaaaally need the weather to cooperate so I can live in it and in all of the other ones I’m planning on making.
This is seriously such a fantastic pattern!
I’m used to having amazing athletic wear from GS and this woven dress/top isn’t any different.
If you’re in the lookout for a summer must have, I highly recommend the Havana!
