“Layers” Blog Tour

Satara Shirt Dress

It’s time for another WWD Blog Tour and this time it’s all about layering!

Suzanne has some amazing jacket and blazer patterns and my thoughts went immediately to those when I heard what March’s theme was going to be.

I had it all planned to make a Phresh Blazer, but there’s something about WWD patterns that makes my creative juices flow… So it’s another Satara hack instead. 😉

A sleeveless duster to be more exact.

I love a duster, they add flair and drama to the outfit and there’s something about it that makes you feel all cool and confident when wearing one.

The modifications I made were:

  • 1/2 circle skirt, instead of 3/4;
  • eliminated the collar – I finished the edges with the serger, turned over and stitched;
  • eliminated the placket – serged the edges, folded over and stitched;
  • made it sleeveless;
  • added a hook and eye on the waist.

The fabric I used is a voile cotton.
I’m really happy with how this turned out. I can be paired with a lot of different outfits – shorts and a tank, summer dress, or even be worn as a swimsuit cover up.

I think I might need another one made with a print as well, or maybe lace… This is an easy hack and fairly quick to make. If you like the style, make sure to give it a go! 😉
