Tessa Sheath Dress – Love Notions

2023 isn’t here yet but it’s already bringing good tidings.
I’ve been invited to be a Love Notions ambassador and couldn’t be happier!

They have a beautiful array of patterns, great fit, and excellent online support.
Love Notions popular free pattern, the Laundry Day Tee, was one of my very first sews and this feels like a full circle moment <3

I just had to go searching for my post… And found the proof I just can’t help myself, only sewing for a couple of months and already trying to hack patterns lol

I remember how accomplished I felt making this shirt. The instructions were so great and the pattern so reliable that my very beginner self ended up with a very wearable final product. Sometimes we come across patterns that aren’t… great, and as a beginner, one may not realize that the problem is the pattern and not the sewing and, therefore, get discouraged. I’m glad LN was one of the first companies I came across <3

Anyways, nostalgic vibes aside… Today is Friday, and that means a Feature Friday pattern!

Tessa Sheath has been on my sewing wishlist for quite a while. It’s a clean and classic silhouette with so many possibilities.

The two neckline options are so flattering and you can choose how you’d rather finish it, binding or facing. I love that!

Another fun detail of this pattern is that the bodice was drafted to perfectly match/mash with the Sybill Illusion Skirt Collection. And that’s what I did today.

The options I chose were:

  • Tessa Sheath bodice with scoop neck finished with facing and elbow sleeves;
  • Sybill Skirt Drop Yoke option.

I’m 5’10” and added 2″ to the bodice length but none to the skirt.

The fabric I used is a knit corduroy with very thin ribbing and by some expert fabric Tetris, I manage to make this dress out of 1.5m of fabric.

It was a tight fit, but I won! haha

I absolutely love how the dress turned out and the Christmas-y feel of it.

I wanted to wear my Santa hat with it for the photo, but… all our Christmas things are still boxed up. No, I’m not the Grinch, I’m just exhausted! lol Decorations are going up this weekend!!

And that being said… I better be off to bed so I can actually get that done. 😉
