I was never sold on the kimono idea as a jacket/cardi idea… until now!
The Free Spirit by Ellie and Mac converted me for good. I think that the fact that it’s open on the sides made it less nightgown-ish in my eyes.
The pattern comes in three lengths: mid-thigh, knee, and ankle.
My first choice was the Knee Length.
The pattern is one size and the only mod I had to make is to add 3″ to the length to account for my height.
This is super FAST to put together. The only snag a beginner might run into is hemming the curve of the neck. I used a rolled hem foot on my sewing machine and went really slowly, this worked great and I had no problems.
It’s been fun to figure out what wear with it. 🙂

This pattern would also be a fantastic swimsuit cover-up, wouldn’t it?
