Janie dress and separates – Petite Stitchery & Co

Petite Stitchery’s new patterns are live and I’m a fan!
Today let’s talk about Janie.

This pattern is packed with options! It’s pretty much a mini capsule in itself.

  • dress or separates;
  • 2 necklines: crew and boatneck;
  • 3 sleeve choices: short, regular long or bishop long;
  • 2 bodice options: simple or color blocked;
  • 2 top lenghts: regular or crop;
  • 3 skirt lengths: mini, knee or midi;
  • 2 skirt hems: curved or pencil (with or without slit);
  • 2 shorts lengths;
  • optional fun pocket.

There are so many possibilities!

With these many choices I couldn’t just make one…

1 – Party dress

  • dress
  • crew neck
  • regular long sleeves
  • mini skirt with curved hem
  • no pockets
  • fabric: Velvet from Driessen

As I’ve mentioned before, we’re in lockdown… it’s been months.
So why is my first reaction to Janie is to make a velvet party dress, you ask? I have no idea! lol
But that’s what I made and it’s super soft and comfy to wear, so I guess it’s a dress for when I want to feel fab while drinking wine on my couch. lol That’s an important occasion as well, right?

2 – Color Blocked separates

  • separates
  • crop top, colorblocked both on front and back;
  • short sleeves
  • boat neck
  • mini pencil skirt, no slit
  • pockets
  • black fabric is ponte from Driessen and the yellow fabric is a mystery knit from a local shop.

We have a new fabric shop in town and I’m so stoked about it.
It’s a 10-minute cycle from my house… that’s amazing and dangerous at the same time. lol
The store is pretty big so it’s easy to accommodate customers while keeping to the new lockdown rules, so that’s a huge plus as well. I’ve been there on Saturday and they have a great selection. My husband was waiting in the car so it was a quick browse, but I managed to grab this amazing yellow fabric. I’m not exactly sure what it is, though. I used both sides of the fabric for the color blocking.

The separates option is definitely my favorite. I love this top but don’t always want to wear a skirt of a dress, it’s the perfect solution!

And that brings me to my last Janie for now… and probably my favorite one.

3 – Yummy sweater

  • crop
  • boatneck
  • bishop sleeves
  • fabric: dreamily soft chenille

I’m OBSESSED with this one. Like, A LOT!

The combination of the soft fabric and the billowy sleeves is just perfection. I love the way it feels, the way it looks, and I especially love that it’s a crop with an elasticated waistband. I can wear it with my high waisted bottoms and it doesn’t go anywhere, plus it makes it extra warm.

One more reason to love this top?
Look what my daughter made for me!! <3
