The Rival Dress is one of the most loved G+G patterns and it just got updated! It now has the new size chart, going from tween (12) to size 5X (26). <3
I can’t believe it took me this long to sew one! This is one fantastic pattern with loads of options.
These include:
- 4 sleeve options: long, 3/4, short and sleeveless;
- 3 neckline finishes: basic, hood or cowl.
Between these options, Rival has got you covered all year round. How awesome is that?
Another great standout point of this pattern are the pockets! I love how they’re constructed and how deep they actually are! Lots of place for snacks! lol
Since spring is here and because I keep hoping that the cold will eventually go away, my dress is sleeveless with a hood and made with CL.
This was my first time mixing prints and I love how it turned out!
I always admire fellow sewists with the ability to mix and match different prints and make it look super trendy and pretty. It’s a skill I have yet to learn.
I feel like floral and stripes were a safe choice to start dipping my toes in that pool. Ha!
And talking about stripes… can we take a moment to appreciate my matching accomplishment on this dress? Side panel, pockets, and bottom band, all aligned! *I’m giving myself a pat on the back for this one* π
I think I need at least one Rival dress for each season. I can just imagine one in FT with 3/4 sleeves and hood for Fall and a long sleeved one with a cowl for winter.
But meanwhile, I’ll keep making clothes for the temperatures I’m longing for and will keep my fingers crossed warmer days will come and actually stick for a while! I mean…. it’s May and I’m still needing my winter coat. What’s up with that???
On the bright side, how cute would this dress look with paired with a jean jacket? π

Wel een heel apart patroon! Heel geschikt natuurlijk om resten te verwerken!
Is het bloemen stofje ook van Driessen?

Beautiful! I’m a pear shape as well and was wondering if you had to do a sway back adjustment?
Hi Debbie!
Thank you.
No I didn’t need to make one for this one π
