The Sojourner Dres!
It’s a semi-formal dress with flutter sleeves and gathered skirt, made for wovens with the sleeves and skirt cut on the bias.
The patter options are:
- Plunge or scoop necklines;
- high-low cut or straight front hem;
- optional side zipper;
- optional pockets.
Not to mention the amazing size range, typical of the DIBY patterns!
I chose to make the plunge neckline with the straight front hem and no zipper nor pockets. The fabric I used is a crepe georgette and it worked out perfectly for it.
I made a straight Misses size 14, due to the nature of the skirt I wasn’t necessary to grade up at the hips. But if you’d like to have more fullness on the skirt I’d suggest you grade up if necessary.
One thing that I absolutely love about the DIBY patters is the detailed instructions in order to achieve a great fit. With easy to follow written instructions and incredibly helpful videos, they make it really easy to make a garment fit perfectly on your body!
The only mods I made to this one was to add 2 1/4″ in length to the bodice and 3″ to the skirt.
This dress is so feminine, I just love those flutter sleeves!
The only special technique needed for this dress is making a rolled hem. For this one, I used a rolled hem foot but you can also use a serger.
There are great instructions on the pattern on how to make it.
If you have a party to go and want to feel like pretty princes, this is the dress for you! 😉
