Willow Wrap Dress – Love Notions
Love Notions has just re-released the Willow Wrap Dress and it was the perfect opportunity for me to finally make one!
It’s such a flattering shape that works for all different body types.
The pattern comes with different options, such as:
- Dress or peplum lengths;
- Low or High neckline;
- Plain bodice or Side Ruching (gathers or pleats);
- 5 sleeves lengths: short, elbow, 3/4, long and flutter;
- Optional flounce.
I made the dress with the plain bodice, lower neckline and flutter sleeves. The fabric I used is the same Jersey Pique from my G+G Campfire jumpsuit.
This one turned out so cute! I’ll be wearing it to my sister in law’s party this weekend. 🙂
I enjoyed the pattern so much that I couldn’t resist trying a little hack/mash.
My plan was to mash the Willow bodice with the Resolution Bottoms and make a jumpsuit. Doesn’t it sound great?
I lengthened the bodice to make it a top and made the Resolution (joggers) minus the waistband. I wanted to attach them and make a sewn-in elastic waistband.
BUT…
I underestimated the size of my booty! lol
According to LN’s size chart, my bust is size S and my hip is L/XL and I forgot to account for that when choosing the fabric. I was only focused on the look of the end result… lesson learned!
Oh well, now I have a faux jumpsuit and can wear the pieces separately if I choose, so I’ll call it a win! 😉
Fabric I used is FT with about 35% stretch and I sized bodice up to have a more relaxed fit.
I really really love how it turned out!
Super comfy to lounge at home and cute enough to brave de streets in it. 😀
This was also my first time making the joggers option of the Resolution Bottoms and it will definitely not be the last.
Bottom line is that whether it’s as per pattern or a “failed” mash, the end result is that Willow Wrap Dress pattern is a keeper!
